Benjamin Nii-Lartey Ayiku is a multifaceted journalist, filmmaker, and trailblazing advocate who has stood at the intersection of media and social justice for over two decades.
As the founder of Adonai Studios GH, Benjamin leads a multimedia company with a unique social conscience, dedicating 30% of its earnings to disability advocacy.
He is also the creative force behind “THISABILITY,” a compelling social media film series that utilises short dramas, documentaries, and personality profiles to challenge stereotypes and educate the public on the “ability” in disability.
To foster inclusive values from the ground up, he also established Inclusion For All – Ghana (IFAG), an organisation focused on educating schoolchildren on disability rights and equity.
Benjamin’s journey as a “voice for the marginalised” began in 2005 at Radio Ada, where he pioneered the use of radio drama and talk shows to sensitise the public.
Recognising a gap in mainstream media, he later founded DisabilityNewsGH.com, Ghana’s premier news platform dedicated exclusively to reporting on disability-related matters.
His career is defined by a series of historic “firsts.” In 2019, he became the first African journalist to be named Journalist of the Year by the Africa Disability Alliance. In June 2025, he reached another milestone as the first Ghanaian journalist to receive formal recognition from the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD).
His extensive list of accolades also includes:
• Humanitarian Awards Global (2022)
• Ghana Disability Excellence Award (2021) for Excellence in Disability Campaigning.
• US Embassy in Ghana & YALI TV Recognition (2021) for outstanding contributions to advocacy.
Benjamin Nii-Lartey Ayiku remains a steadfast visionary, committed to utilising the power of film, digital storytelling, and journalism to build a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.
