The Centre for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (CEPD) and the Ghana Chamber for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (GCED) extended warm greetings to all workers with disabilities across Ghana on this year's May Day.

In a joint statement, the organisations celebrated the resilience, innovation, and invaluable contributions of workers with disabilities in both the formal and informal sectors.

They acknowledged the diverse range of professions represented within this community, from business owners and professionals to craftspeople, traders, and workers in various fields.

“Today, we celebrate your resilience, your innovation, and your invaluable contributions to the economy and to society,” the statement read. “Your hard work and perseverance continue to break barriers and redefine what is possible.”

The statement also reaffirmed the organisations’ commitment to advocating for policies that promote inclusive employment, equitable opportunities, and supportive work environments for persons with disabilities.

While acknowledging the ongoing challenges faced by these workers, CEPD and GCED pledged to continue their efforts toward a future where dignity, equal rights, and full participation in the workforce are not merely aspirations, but a reality.

The statement concluded with a message of appreciation and inspiration: “Happy May Day to all workers with disabilities! Your strength is our inspiration. Your success is our mission.”
