On February 21st, 2026, disability inclusion advocate and Mandela Washington fellow, Gifty Akosua Adzigbey, spread love and kindness to 16-year-old James Keitu, a young man living with a physical challenge in Gomoa Debiso, Central Region.

James, who lost his parents and now resides with his aunt, is determined to beat the odds with the help of his new friend, Gifty.

A public health nurse with a passion for inclusivity, Gifty had enrolled James in a special school in Kaneshie, Accra, for vocational training. And on this particular day, she was on a mission to check on his well-being, ensure his donated wheelchair was in good condition, and bring some much-needed groceries and foodstuffs to the table.

As Gifty handed over the donations, James’ aunt was overwhelmed with emotion, as she shed tears of joy.

“”Gifty’s dedication to James’ cause is unwavering. “I have not given up on him,” she affirmed, embodying the spirit of disability inclusion and advocacy.
