DisabilityNewsGH.com, in collaboration with generous donors, successfully enrolled 12-year-old Prince Yaw Domey, who is deaf, in the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf today.

Prince was born deaf, and as is sadly often the case in Ghana, his father abandoned him and his mother due to his disability. He now lives with his grandmother in Ashaiman, Roman Down. Adding to the family’s challenges, Prince’s aunt also has Down syndrome.

Despite his eagerness to learn, Prince has never had the opportunity to attend school due to persistent financial hardship.

Their neighbour, Madam Mavis Mensah, brought Prince’s story to the attention of DisabilityNewsGH. The organisation subsequently reached out to its network of supporters. Nene Aguh and Dr. Millicent Agangiba generously donated Ghc1,000 each, and an additional Ghc300 was raised through the Ghana Disability Forum, an advocacy WhatsApp group.

These funds enabled DisabilityNewsGH.com to purchase the necessary items for Prince to enroll as a boarder at the Tetteh Ocloo State School for the Deaf.

DisabilityNewsGH.com extends its deepest gratitude to Nene Aguh, Dr. Millicent Agangiba, Mr. Alex Tetteh (chairman of GDF), and GDF members, Osei Owusu Asamoah and Ayishetu Iddrisu Mikky for their invaluable contributions.

While significant progress has been made, a few items from the school’s prospectus remain outstanding. Those in a position to offer further support are encouraged to contribute; any donation, however small, will be greatly appreciated and will make a significant difference in Prince’s life.

To contribute, please send donations via MoMo to: 0243761489 (Benjamin Nii-Lartey Ayiku).
