Gifty Akosua Adzigbey and Shaibu Fuseni, 2023 Mandela Fellows, have empowered 15 persons with disabilities in Asakore-Mampong at the Ashanti Region, through skills training aimed at economic empowerment and reduced dependence on families.
On May 15-16, 2024, the beneficiaries learned to produce soap, shower gel, and shampoo, receiving starter packs to establish their own ventures.
Madam Adzigbey described the training as a Mandela Day Service, aimed at bringing joy and reducing poverty among persons with disabilities. The initiative also encourages beneficiaries to train fellow persons with disabilities and community members.
