The 1979 to 1983 year groups of Komenda College of Education Old Students Association (KOSA), have donated a brand-new saloon car to a young lady with disability.

The car was donated on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Cape Coast to Dorcas Margaret Madjitey, a 25-year-old lady with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.

The car is meant to support her mobility as well as facilitate the easy running of her NGO, Dorcas Margaret Foundation, an organisation she founded last year to support children with disabilities.

Mrs. Gifty Adwoa Nyomi,  a host at Coastal Television in Cape Coast who facilitated the raising of funds for the car said,  she was moved by Dorcas’ story when she hosted her and the mother on her show some few months ago.

According to her, for Dorcas to look beyond her very challenging condition and establish a foundation to help others, was worth commending.

She, therefore, suggested to the association to which they agreed and contributed to buy her the car.

Mrs. Nyomin expressed the hope that the car would go a long way to make life comfortable for Dorcas and her organisation.

She appealed to institutions and organisations in the country to look at their example and do the little they could to make life easy for the vulnerable and marginalised in society.

Dorcas’ father, Mr. Abednego Doku Madjitey expressed the family’s gratitude to the donors.

He told DisabilityNewsGH that the donation would bring a huge relief to the family, as mobility was one of the major challenges for the family in handling Dorcas’ condition.

Mr. Madjitey lamented over the lack of social support for parents who have children with disabilities, a situation he said, made things very difficult for them in managing their daughter’s condition.

He appealed to the Government to resource the social welfare department to be able to support families of children with disabilities.
