Mali’s Transitional President, Colonel Assimi Goïta, has pledged to implement concrete measures to encourage the participation of individuals with dwarfism in public decision-making.
Colonel Assimi Goïta made the promise on Thursday, October 17, 2024, when he hosted a delegation of persons with dwarfism at the presidency on the sidelines of the 2nd African Forum of Little Persons underway in the country’s capital Bamako.
The delegation, led by Diarra Kadiatou Barry, President of the Association of Small Persons of Mali, presented a document outlining the concerns and aspirations of individuals with dwarfism.

The delegation requested President Goïta’s intervention in advocating with his counterparts in the sub-region to reduce discrimination and promote effective inclusion of individuals with dwarfism in society.
