Dr. Komabu-Pomeyie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. Her work has been dedicated to promoting inclusivity and challenging negative perceptions surrounding disability, particularly within marginalised communities. Her personal experiences as a woman of colour with a physical disability have fueled her advocacy.

Dr. Komabu-Pomeyie has received numerous awards and honours for her contributions, including being recognised as one of the six most influential disabled persons in the world in 2016. She has served as an educator, researcher, and policy analyst for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has taught courses on Global Disability Studies and Race and Racism.

In her new role, Dr. Komabu-Pomeyie will lead DEI initiatives at the college and begin teaching Foundations of Health Equity the next semester. Her memoir, “I’m Able: A Woman’s Advice for Disability Change Agents,” will be featured at a reading and book signing event on August 23rd at the Howe Library Atrium.
