In celebration of World Oral Health Day 2026, the Gomoa District Health Directorate, in collaboration with St. Luke’s Catholic Hospital, organised a comprehensive dental health outreach for 120 learners at the Mephibosheth Training Centre on 19th March.
Guided by the global theme, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life,” the initiative sought to ensure that children and adolescents with disabilities are actively included in essential health awareness programmes.
The event was led by the District Director of Health Services, a dental professional, who provided expert oversight for the day’s activities.

The learners participated in interactive health talks regarding the importance of oral hygiene and viewed practical demonstrations on effective brushing techniques.
To support their long-term dental health, the team provided free toothpaste and toothbrushes to every participant.
The District Disability Focal Person, who coordinated the event, reaffirmed a commitment to inclusive healthcare, stating that such celebrations are vital to ensuring that no member of the community is sidelined due to their physical or cognitive challenges.
The outreach is part of a broader district strategy to promote healthier smiles and equitable health access for all.
