David Agyemang, Sightsavers Ghana Country Representative, expressed satisfaction with the meeting’s outcome. He highlighted that the shared experiences among stakeholders would be invaluable in enhancing the programme’s effectiveness.

The pilot programme, launched a year and a half ago, is slated to conclude in March 2025. Insights gleaned from this initial phase are expected to inform the rollout of the full programme.

Sightsavers’ Economic Empowerment Programme is designed to address the unemployment challenge faced by individuals with disabilities in Ghana. The programme’s key components include:

• Entrepreneurial Capacity Building: Providing entrepreneurs with disabilities the necessary skills and knowledge to manage and grow their businesses.
• Graduate Job Seeker Support: Equipping job-seeking graduates with disabilities with the requisite ICT skills and knowledge to compete in the job market, including CV preparation and workplace readiness training.

Through these initiatives, Sightsavers aims to empower individuals with disabilities and contribute to their economic inclusion in Ghana.

The implementing partners of the programme include ABAK Foundation, Challenges Ghana, Inclusion Ghana, Ghana Blind Union, and Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations.
