With funding from ENA, IFAG launched the “GHANA SCHOOLS TOUR” campaign at EL-VICKY SCHOOL COMPLEX in Kanewu, Tema West Municipality, Greater Accra Region.

Through engaging short drama films, they educated about 500 learners on the importance of empathy, understanding, and support for persons with disabilities, including those with albinism. Fliers bearing positive messages about albinism were distributed to reinforce the lessons learned.

Mr. Joshua Quaye Nudzrodu, a teacher, remarked, “Personally, I have learned a lot. There were things I never knew about albinism until today. Judging by the children’s reactions and the feedback I’m receiving, it’s clear that this has been impactful. I believe this is going to positively influence the community.”

ENA’s Albinism Programmes Manager, Andrews Kwame Daklo, led the education on albinism, while IFAG’s founder, Benjamin Nii-Lartey Ayiku, spearheaded the discussion on general disability rights.

The school community’s enthusiastic response included requests for future engagements, indicating the programme’s success.

Mr. Benjamin Nii-Lartey Ayiku expressed his gratitude to the partners, school authorities, and his team for the program’s success.

“I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the school authorities of EL-VICKY SCHOOL COMPLEX, Engage Now Africa, and my dedicated team for making this launch a resounding success. Together, we’re working towards a future Ghana where disability rights and inclusion are inherently upheld and opportunities are readily available for all,” he stated.

ENA’s extensive outreach efforts have already made a significant impact, reaching over 4,500 students and teachers annually, and indirectly impacting over one million people through community-based programmes and sensitisation campaigns.

About IFAG

IFAG (Inclusion For All – Ghana) is a new disability rights advocacy organisation addressing the root causes of disability discrimination by educating schoolchildren about disability rights and inclusion.

Recognising that many misconceptions about disability are formed early in life, IFAG will conduct targeted school tours, provides teacher training, and creates awareness campaigns to empower the next generation with accurate information and foster values of empathy and acceptance.

Building on years of advocacy by its founder, Mr. Ayiku (of DisabilityNewsGH.com and Adonai Studios), IFAG will collaborate with organisations like the Ghana Education Service to create more inclusive learning environments and envisions a Ghana where disability rights are inherently upheld and opportunities are readily available for all.
